Ron Hubbard Library, the exclusive licensee of the copyrights to certain photographs of Mr. L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of the Scientology religion. I have been informed that you have placed two of these photographs on your home page without the authorization of my client. These photographs can be found under the following URLs: cover.gif
Both of these photographs are registered with the United States Copyright Officer under registration numbers VA 351 641 and RE 401 657 and B 857935. I hereby give you notice that by placing my client's copyrighted works on your web page, you are violating the copyright laws of France and the United States. Please remove them immediately. Recently, Mr. Henson, who engaged in similar Internet infringing activities lost a copyright infringement case brought against him. Several months ago, a jury convened in the United States District Court in San Jose, California and assessed damages in the amount of $75,000 against him for placing similar works on the Internet. Mr. Henson is also permanently enjoined against further infringements. Additionally, a United States District Court in the state of Virginia granted judgment for damages, costs, and a permanent injunction in favor of my client related to copyright infringement of similar works. Additionally, within the last month the Swedish Court issued a decision against an individual who engaged in similar illegal activity, ruling that placing copyrighted materials on the Internet constitutes a violation of copyright law, fined him thousands of kroner and issued a permanent injunction prohibiting him from engaging in such illegal activities in the future. Please confirm that you have removed the copyrighted material as requested above.
